Microphone issue with proximity 3.0.1

Hi Team!

We experienced a microphone issue related to proximity:

when the Proximity application is running on a PC, and connected to a TP system, the microphone is unavailable to all other apps.

I tested with Webex and SfB: if a client is in a call, with computer audio, using the built-in microphone, and the Proximity app is connected to a device in between, the meeting client is unable to use the mic (SfB shows "Your mic isn't working" alert)

Exiting from Proximity won't solve it, only Disable/Enable the mic.

The Proximity version is 3.0.1.0, the OS is Win10.

Has anyone saw the same behavior? Do you know any solution/workaround for the issue?

Thanks,

Tibor

Proximity and other applications should be able to work side-by-side while the proximity app is closed to tray, but may interfere with other apps while open. If you are experiencing problems even after closing Proximity, that might be caused by bugs in the audio driver or other software. A way of mitigating this might be disallowing exclusive mode audio recording, see https://proximity.cisco.com/help/index.html?platform=win&code=AUDCLNT_E_EXCLUSIVE_MODE_NOT_ALLOWED for a screenshot of the location of these settings.

Note that disallowing exclusive mode might prevent Proximity from working correctly, which is why we normally recommend allowing it. You may also have some success by experimenting with combinations of these settings:

  • Exclusive mode: Try disabling
  • Enhancements: Try disabling
  • Mic boost setting: 0
  • Recording rate: 16-bit, try 44.1kHz if 48kHz fails.
