Cisco ISR4331 16.6.x can it be configured to use SMART licensing without upgrade?
If yes, what happens to the existing permanent license on the box? Which features would be used from smart licensing or local perm lic.? e.g. perm. lic supports 500 sessions and SMART lic supports 750 sessions, which would be used?
Do we loose other features from perm. /local box license?

Cisco Smart Licensing is only supported from 16.10.1 and onwards.

Higher one take precedence, once that expires lower one be used.

as @Leo Laohoo mentioned you need version of code which support smart License.

If upgraded to 16.10.x and above, ISR4331 Cube can adapt SMART license. Smart lic features will be used once expired it shall fall back to local/perm lic.
