Cisco Prime Upgrade 3.6 to 3.9

Hi,

I want to upgrade the Cisco Prime from 3.6 to 3.9. In the 3.9 Installation Guide, its mentioned that the upgrade should be performed from prevous version which are 3.7 or 3.8, however nothing about 3.6, should I upgrade to 3.8 first then again from 3.8 to 3.9?

Or should I backup, clean install 3.9 and restore?

Regards,

OJ

You need 2 step upgrade since you miss the opportunity.

upgrade 3.6 to 3.7 and restore the back and test it, and take the backup.

upgrade 3.7 to 3.9 and restore the backup, 3.9 version not going to recognize 3.6 back-ups to restore.

You can restore back up only on Prime Infrastructure 3.7 from the following versions:

  • Cisco Prime Infrastructure 3.6 update1

  • Cisco Prime Infrastructure 3.6

You can restore back up only on Prime Infrastructure 3.9 from the following versions:

  • Cisco Prime Infrastructure 3.8.1

  • Cisco Prime Infrastructure 3.8 Update 02

  • Cisco Prime Infrastructure 3.8

  • Cisco Prime Infrastructure 3.7.1 Update 04

  • Cisco Prime Infrastructure 3.7.1

  • Cisco Prime Infrastructure 3.7 Update 03

  • Cisco Prime Infrastructure 3.7

Hi OJ,

Have you upgrade your Prime? May I know how long you took to let the upgrade finish?

Thanks!

Hi John,

it was not really an upgrade, we had to install a new VM with a prime 3.9 version, cause an upgrade was not possible. once the fresh installation was finished, we restored the backup. It took around 4-5 hours to complete the task.

Regards,

OJ

yes that was mentioned in the document, depends data it take 1 or 3 or day (safe side on cisco document)
