Install VMware Tools on Cisco Virtual Wireless LAN Controller

I was interested in installing VMware Tools on a Cisco vWLC (version 8.3.102). Is there anyway to access a Linux shell on the appliance, or would I have to do something hacky like mount the vmdk on another machine?

vWLC is same like any other Linux OS - Personally i would not tamper installing VMWARE tools - it works as expected with out any VMWARE tools also.

but there is thread confirming that you can install VMWARE tools but there is no Guidance and supported by cisco - so your own risk to install.
