Hello folks,

I am trying to upgrade a Cisco 3750G to fix stack mismatch.

I have undone the stack and trying to upgrade those switches with new IOS.

I get "!o!" using tftp so I used;

USP-CISCO-SW5#archive download-sw /overwrite /reload tftp: flash:
Could not buffer tarfile...using multiple downloads
examining image...
%Error opening tftp: (Invalid IP address or hostname)
%Error opening flash:update/info (No such file or directory)
ERROR: Image is not a valid IOS image archive.
USP-CISCO-SW5#

stil I get error.

Please advsie what I should do to get this working correctly? reset the sw to factory default? trying to avoid doing that.

Please advise,

Regards,

Masood

This syntax is incorrect.  Kindly use

"archive download /over /reload tftp://<TFTP IP address>/IOS_filename.tar"

If you mean by "error" and you mean the lines above, that's nothing to be worried about.

Thanks for responding.

So the file format cannot be .bin?

I do I need to download a .tar extension IOS?

Best Regards,

Masood

Hello,

I cannot find IOS BaseIP with extension .Tar?

Is that cmd syntax works for .bin IOS too?

Best Regards,

Masood

hello again,

it seems that I have only 32 MB flash size!

CISCO-SW3#dir flah
%Error opening flash:/flah (No such file or directory)
USP-CISCO-SW3#dir
Directory of flash:/

    2  -rwx         856   Mar 1 1993 00:01:15 +00:00  vlan.dat
    3  drwx         192   Mar 1 1993 00:56:10 +00:00  c3750-ipbasek9-mz.122-37.SE1
    7  -rwx        1933   Mar 1 1993 05:14:16 +00:00  private-config.text
    8  drwx           0   Mar 1 1993 00:04:02 +00:00  update
    9  -rwx        5003   Mar 1 1993 05:14:16 +00:00  config.text
   10  -rwx        1048   Mar 1 1993 05:14:16 +00:00  multiple-fs

32514048 bytes total (21840896 bytes free)

So, given the size of flash, puts me to disadvantage of which IP Base IOS I can use. Any was wound this please?

For Example:

IP BASE
c3750-ipbasek9-mz.122-55.SE5.bin
16-FEB-2012
128/32

Issue the command "del /f /r flash:update" and then invoke the command to start the upgrade:  archive download-sw tftp://<TFTP_IP_address>/filename.tar

I cannot get to the command prompt.

The SW says, corrupt IOS and keep restarting!?

Console into the switch and post the entire boot-up process.
NOTE: Do not post screenshots.

boot process is attached.

Ok,

I was able to xmodem an image and its 1 MB away from being done however, my bad! I loaded Ip universal image instead of IP base.

so, I need to tftp the right image to all three switches that would participate in an stack.

I remember there was a command that could transfer the image we want from one Switche to the the rest of the sack members?

is this something you would recommend? or  better do tftp to each standalone switch?

Best Regards,

Masood

unfortunately the new image also shows this error afte I suued boot command:

Error: hardware not supported by firmware.
       Try loading newer software instead.
       System Resetting...

Please advise if I had done something wrong!? I followed procedure per book.

Best Regards,

Masood

Ok, you might as well be honest here. You've attached a boot-up of an IOS meant for 3750E/X. What I don't see is what model of switches are these IOS meant to run on. 3750 can load only up to 15.0(2)SE train. 3750G can load higher versions. 3750E/3750X CANNOT load the IOS from 3750 & 3750G (and vice versa).

Hi Leo,

I am afraid I do not follow your message being honest! - the Switch is a 24-ports Cisco 3750G. after lots of problems, I was able to load an IOS using Xmodem but i loaded a wrong IOS - may be being tired contributed to this Mistake.

I have similar switches and with difficulties, i uploaded an image from a working Switch to my tftp application and now I am tying oo load on bad switch using xmodem again ( same problems with xmodem that i need to rectify).

I can see that the IOS loaded is not for a Cisco 3750G, 24 ports but that was a mistake in my part.

I can upload any output from s similar Switch with same Ipbase IOS for your attention should that be required.

Best Regards,

Masood

If the switch is a 3750G then you're forcing the switch to boot an IOS meant for 3750E/X. This is the reason why the 3750G stops in the booting process because the 3750G is not meant to load an IOS meant for another platform.

thanks.

i will try to load the IOS I had uploaded to my tftp client from another similar switch and see if that fixes the issue.

I searched Cisco software downloads but could not find IOS for Switch 3750G!?

best Regards,

Masod
