2011: A Recap of Social Media Activities for Cisco Support Community

As we turn a page in history, close the 2011 chapter and look forward to 2012, I paused for a moment to look at our achievements. Here's a summary of what we have achieved so far.

Audience Growth

We witnessed explosive growth in likes and followers across all our Social Media channels. Facebook has more than tripled, Twitter has grown more than nine times and same is the story with LinkedIn and YouTube channels.

Launch of Key Programs

We launched key programs on Facebook like Facebook Forums and Friday Tech Challenge. Facebook Forum is a monthly tech chat on Facebook where we bring in a Cisco tech expert and take your questions on a particular topic. We have conducted 12 Facebook Forums so far with some amazing response. The forums are then archived as a Q&A on Cisco Support Community and Facebook Notes.

Friday Tech Challenge was a 10 week program where we asked you to answer a five-question quiz every week on a certain technology. All the correct entries made it to our leaderboard chart and one lucky winner received a $25 Visa card.

Launch of Social Media Applications

We launched a very innovative Facebook application that will allow you to post a question or respond to a question on CSC. Imagine this as a two-way channel between Facebook and Cisco Support Community. You can watch a little video here.

Listening, Monitoring and Responding

We have listened and rtesponded to many of your questions on Social Media. Although we may not be able to resolve all of your questions on Social Media, we make an attempt to at least guide you in the right direction.


We also topped off the year with a Forrester Groundswell award in the B2B supporting category.

Although we have a lot to pat on our backs for 2011, we are not sitting still. We have set the bar high and want to exceed that in 2012. So, stay tuned for more innovative applications and programs.
