Best way to update deployed Jabber for Win clients to new IM&P cluster

We had a Jabber pilot that went well using CUP 8.6. We have built a new cluster using IM&P 10.5 and would like to point our already deployed Jabber clients to the 10.5 cluster.

We are having issues where the server address is not updating when SCCM tries to add the new 10.5 FQDN. Even if we have SCCM uninstall and reinstall the Jabber for Win client.

We cannot find where this value is being stored.

Currently we do not use SRV records and I am curious if Jabber for Win first looks at DNS or the local file system for stored server address.

We have not added the SRV records to prevent some users on 'Automatic' to prematurely point to 10.5 cluster so have not been able to test this.

Does anyone have a suggestion how best to update the existing clients?

Hi Ronald,

If you do not wish to use DNS-SRV records for automatic discovery and want to hard code Jabber clients to point to your new IMP 10.5 server.

Unzip the attached folder.

Open the "jabber-bootstrap.properties" file in notepad and edit the CUP address with the desired IMP address.

Deploy the attached file on the following location C:\ProgramData\Cisco Systems\Cisco Jabber in the end user PC's.
