Hello Experts,

We have a requirement for Cisco IP Telephony solutions for one of our client. The requirement mentioned below.

1. Client will provide the Hardware and VM for the Cisco IP Telephony.
2. Requires Jabber desktop for only video calling not for IP Phones.
3.Can Jabber desktop will support Video conferencing?

If yes what application / hardware requires for this? and maximum how many conference participants can join in a conference session

Thanks & Regards
Nithin Louis.

Hi Nithin,

Just wanted to mention that having Jabber for video calls only is not giving you full collaboration experience the Cisco UC solutions are designed for, but yes it will work as Video Endpoint only so you don't need to have IM&P enabled.

What is required for such deployment very much depends on what exactly is required by the customer and the scale. At minimum you'd need:

- CUCM server to register Jabber

- Video Conferencing device (minimum: IOS with video conferencing capable DSP resources, preferred: Cisco Conductor wit vTS server, as an alternate you can also use Acano solution - that would be my choice)

More about components for Video setup you can find here:

http://www.cisco.com/c/dam/en/us/td/docs/solutions/PA/midmarket/video.pdf

Regarding scale and number of devices that can join video bridge, you can find some sizing information on vTS under this document:

http://www.cisco.com/c/en/us/products/collateral/conferencing/telepresence-server/datasheet-c78-736947.html

So more detailed answer to your question would depend on the scale.

HTH,

Leszek

Just for clarification, we no longer support video conferencing over PVDM3, we dropped support for that option a few months ago. vTP, MCU or Acano would be the only options now.

Hi Jaime,

Thanks for your reply. If we are going with MCU for this Jabber desktop for video conferencing what all are the hardware and software we required along with Cisco CUCM.

As I mentioned our client requires 25 to 50 conference participants in a single session.

You really should be reaching out to pre-sales, they'll give you the different options that are currently available to purchase, as well as PN/SW and related costs for each one.
