Jabber chat option unavailable

Hello All,

I'm setting up Jabber in our organisation for the purpose of Presence and IM. (CUCM & CUPS 9.1, Jabber for Win 10.5). Users can see other users' presence (available/offline) and can use phone control to call. The problem I'm having is the option to chat with a user is not available. When you hover over a contact the only option I have is to call, the chat icon is not displayed. However, when I click-to-call a user in the list, the chat windows appears, and then can send and receive chat messages just fine.

We do have a single label domain name so maybe that has something to do with it? Also might be worth mentioning automatic sign-in of Jabber either does not find any services, or attempts to sign-in to WebEx IM. To login I have to manually select "Cisco IM & Presence" and input the CUPS server IP. I've confirmed that IM is enabled, the CUPS domain is set and user IM addresses match the CUPS domain. What am I missing here?

Thanks

Did you configure the SRVs for service discovery??

if this helps, please rate

Hi Jaime,

Yes configured _cuplogin SRV record just after posting my question and auto-detect now works. I also excluded WebEx from service detection in jabber-config.xml.

But I still don't see the chat icon/option.

Hello,

About the chat option did you get some results?

I'm having the same issue.

I opened a TAC case for this and as suspected this was a single-label domain name issue. From Jabber 10.x onward you cannot have a single-label presence domain name, it must be domain.something. It has no relation to the internal DNS domain so I was able to change it easily.
