Jabber Chat Window not Opening

Hello All,

 

We are having a very strange issue with Jabber. We have tested on Jabber 10.6, 11.5, and 11.9 with both Windows 10 and Windows 7.

 

Command opening chat window intermittently :

"C:\Program Files (x86)\Cisco Systems\Cisco Jabber\CiscoJabber.exe" -URI xmpp:15555555@sms.host.com

 

Command that always opens a chat window:

"C:\Program Files (x86)\Cisco Systems\Cisco Jabber\CiscoJabber.exe" -URI im:user@host.com

 

We are not getting a chat box intermittently. When this issue is happening, one number could work and the next might not. Or the number that was working, will stop working.

 

We have run procmon against the Jabber executable and the outputs look the same, working or not, always exits with code 0. Just sometimes the window does not pop up. It is not opening off screen or anything like that.  

 

Exiting out of jabber and reopening solves the problem for a short time. Manual gpupdate does not cause the issue to occur.

Another thing worth mentioning.

If we replace the domain of the of our SMS/xmpp provider with WebEx.com or Cisco.com, the chat windows open consistently.

Does anyone know what kind of checks are made for an xmpp destination prior to opening the chat window on the client?
