Mra - different domains, multiple clusters

Need some help with jabber and mra

We have users logging into mra using user1"at"company.co.de- all working

However the issue is when they log on internally we have to use the domain user atcompany.com however due to one srv record of at company.com it fails internally as this points the user to another cluster which we do not ant to do- we could turn on ILS between clusters but don't want to do so yet

We tested it using a bootstrap with another srv record which works internally but if we keep the bootstrap in place, it fails externally as this domain isnt available externally 

We looked at voice services and domain voice services as an option but it wasn't clear on their use

Any help, direction for  changes to the xml file would be great or other options

ILS is a necessity for multiple cluster deployment as that’s what carries Home cluster information for users. This enables the service discovery in Jabber or the new Webex client to find out what CM the user belongs in.

I'm aware of ils but I'm asking apart from ils has anyone else overcome the above issue in a different way?
