No sound in Jabber on Ipad mini

Hi all - I wonder if anyone can shed some light on a Jabber client issue. Sounds are not firing for chat messages (we only use jabber for chat) on one device.

Incoming and outgoing sounds are enabled, both in preferences and under Jabber in settings.

When I go to youtube, sounds play normally.

I tried uninstalling and reinstalling the application.

Any thoughts?

I've had this problem too.  Multiple different iPads, updated IOS versions don't help, nor does updating the Jabber app.  I'd like to blame Apple, but I think it's jabber.  I have sounds on in the App, I have Notifications on for the app with sound, volume on the iPad is up. Even have everything turned on under Sounds in Settings.  I can only keep searching for a resolution... and missing IMs in the meantime.
