Screen share with no IM

Hi all,

We have a client who wants IM function disabled. We have disabled it and cannot send IMs, but during testing, we have also found that this affects screen sharing.

User A initiates a share, the read box comes up and the user's presence status goes to presenting, but user B never receives an invite to join the share. When we re-enable IM, it works correctly.

Is this expected behaviour? Is IM required for screen share?

Thanks

Sean

Pretty much, expected behavior.  older versions relied on BFC during a video call between two participants to allow screen sharing. Now, as of version 10.x  there is an icon in the chat window that allows screen sharing.

Hi Dennis,

Yes, that's why I'm unsure around this. Even with IM disabled, you still get the chat window, but when you try to send a message, it says "this action is prohibited". You can still do file transfer etc from the chat window.

The screen share button is there, inside the window, and when clicked, seems to be sharing the screen (you get the red box around your desktop), and the user's presence changes to "Presenting", but the other end never receives an invite to join the share.

With IM enabled, this seems to work correctly. Is there something in the underlying protocol that causes this, or is it a bug?
