Saqib,

as of today, there are no changes to my previous comments. If you have sizible opportunity for the chrome OS, please provide mi with more details. I do not expect to have more details till fall.

Thank you,

-m

miro,

Unfortunately we are in a chicken-and-egg vicious cycle — business users don't want to purchase Chromebook till popular conferencing apps such as Webex work on Chromebooks, and vendors like Cisco don't want to invest development time in developming a pure HTML 5 client until they see a sizable opportunity.

I think Cisco, being a innovative leader in this space needs to break this vicious cycle and provide a pure HTML 5 app for Webex that works on Chromebook.

Saqib

Wow, does Cisco think this is is all about business?

I guess Cisco doesn't want the education market, since we're flocking in droves to Chromebooks.

Fine. Google Hangouts it is. And vendors wanting us to use Webex for their own stuff will have to hear, "sorry, you're using a product our district doesn't support." Makes their sales/service jobs a bit tougher -- which will make THEM wonder what Cisco's thinking.

I don't understand why some big companies -- in an era where HTM5 is ruling the web -- don't get it.

We understand this is an important need for some of our customers. We are looking at our options in light of all the other customer priorities on the table.  At the present time, we still do not have any committed plans for this support. Sorry that the answer is still the same as before. We will communicate more, as we get more clarity.

Our local Cisco Rep is not happy.  We just decided NOT to purchase Show and Share because of it's platform dependency for the viewer.  We are ok with requiring a specific OS for management but the viewer????  Really????  That is so 80's.....

So I had to tell her the other day.."thanks for all the effort....it looks like a great product.....but until the viewer is HTML5 compliant that product has no place in our environment".

Such a pity really because we were excited about the potential.

Hi Jamie,

Sorry to hear that Show and Share wasn't able to meet your needs at this time.  HTML5 support is on the roadmap and we hope to win your business in the future so you too can experience the benefits that other customers have seen.

Best,

Luke

Thanks,

That's nice to hear for that product but the concern is more from an overall perpsective - basically any products that rely on common end user access - webex, jabber, show n share, etc.  Things where, as is becoming commonplace now, organizations do not have control over what device, OS, etc, the participating end users are employing.

It sure would be nice, and I believe a competitive +, for Cisco to recognize this growing trend and respond to it by publicly committing to making such solutions platform/plug-in independent for the end users.

Greetings shimathu , mkee , Laura Douglas and lustewar,

Any updates on webex for ChromeOS and Windows RT?

Thanks!

Saqib Ali

We do not have any updates at the moment on this support.  We will communicate these once we have more information to share. Thanks for your patience.

shimathu,

I saw the following blogpost:

Putting the User Experience First at Enterprise Connect

Looks like Webex for ChromeOS is almost ready. Do you have an ETA for alpha/beta release?

Thanks!

Saqib

Hi Saqib

As the blog says, what was shown on Chromebook was a prototype of what is to come. We are working on the plans for productizing this. Will share more, once we have these worked out and committed.

Thanks.

Still no support for Chromebooks? Why not have a browser client like GoToMeeting, ATT Connect, Google Hangouts, and Adobe Connect? So annoying that this is taking years and years!

Greetings shimathu , mkee , lustewar ,

Any updates on a webex solution for chromeos and chromebook?

Thanks!

miro,

any updates on this? Google just announced the new lower cost Chromebooks running ChromeOS, which will definitely aid in the faster adoption of the Chromebooks. A pure HTML5 Webex client that works on ChromeOS would be nice.

Thanks,

Saqib

Miro,

I do have a sizable opportunity.  We are looking at just under 1,000 CB's.  We also have webex available to us through our Telepresence\UC\CUWL licensing.  We utilize Google Hangouts but that service is limited in attendee count.  We would very much like to have webex as a cross platform option because of that.

Thanks

Jamie
