I just wanted to give some feedback on the user interface of spark.
I understand the direction moving away from Jabber, but I also miss the power that this little bar that only takes up 1/10 of my screen has.
Compared to Slack (which I downloaded ironically to get help building a node.js application for Spark API), it has way too much white space. To its credit, Spark has in its left pane: team name, room name, last message, an icon and a timestamp. Slack, by contrast has only #roomname (much like IRC).
I just think for messaging purposes only about 30% of the window is usable and I think you can do better.
Heres some ideas:
Move the team name beside the room name in the title bar area
Move the people list, recent content, and start a call to either the topmost bar or the leftmost bar
Change the shaded area when a room is selected to be the same height as the room icon
Push the room icon completely the leftmost bar
Have some options in preferences to make things smaller, even if you have to remove icons and substitute dots.
