When is the SX20 12x going EOL?

Best I can tell the SX20 12xisn't approaching end of sale.  The unit has 3 camera options, 2.5x, 4x, and 12x.  Both the 2.5x and the 4x models have had EOS announced.  But the 12x looks current, we are looking into purchasing the 12x model.

SX20 main page says "no end of sale":

Hello Fernando -

You are correct - the SX20 with 12X camera has not been announced end of life.

However, Cisco has advised our partners that the end of life announcement for SX20 with 12X camera can be expected relatively soon.

We dont normally give advance notice of upcoming EoS announcements, but the serious parts shortages that production is experiencing is causing some unusual situations.

There is an interesting twist to this conversation.  The SX20 spare codec CTS-SX20N-CODEC= has not been announced EoL. Furthermore, it is *now possible* to add a service contract to the spare.

Whereas in the past all spare codecs were not for use in production - they were only cold standby spares - it is now possible to order the spare SX20 codec as a production unit.  Make sure to order the power supply and any cables that you need.  Also order MultiSite and Remote Monitoring as separate line items if you need them.

When using the SX20 codec, you can choose a Sony or Panasonic camera that will work with the SX20; then you can control PTZ from the codec.  This allows us to continue to offer the SX20 as a codec-only, with the idea that a third party camera will be used.  Be careful to choose a camera that outputs 1080p, not 1080i.  And in general, Sony VISCA works well with our codecs.  The Panasonic AW-HE130 actually works for VISCA camera control with our codecs, in spite of the fact that the specs don't mention VISCA.

Be sure to order the proper camera control cable to interface with the third party camera of your choosing.

Another third party camera option for the SX20 codec is the Vaddio RoboSHOT 12:

This camera is available in a bundle with all the cables necessary to hook up this camera to the SX20 codec. Including the Cisco interface cable.
