We at University of California San Francisco have C90s integrated into 6 of our most important lecture hall AV systems.
We use them mainly for their video switching and scaling abilities.

When routing an input source to an output using frame update commands, the display of another output is interrupted by about 1 second of black.

For example, a presenter's laptop/input 3 (analog) is routed to output 4 (analog) while the camera/input 1 is routed to a video capture device on output 2 (analog). If we change the source for output 2 to the presenter's laptop/input 3, then output 4 is interrupted by 1 second of black, even though we have not changed the input source routed to output 4.

This is a real problem for us, as it keeps technicians from making any routing changes during an event.

Would Tandberg please address this with a software fix?

Could an engineer please respond to acknowledge the issue?

Thank you very much. WE LOVE TANDBERG

Hi Henry,
could you copy the commands you are issuing to the codec so we can try to reproduce this. I cannot get the same effect. And which firmware version are you running?

Regards,
David

Here is an example that routes input 3 to output 3.

xCommand Video Layout Frame Update LayoutId: 3 FrameId: 1 PositionX: 0 PositionY: 0 Width: 10000 Height: 10000 Layer: 5 Border: Off VideoSourceType: LocalInput VideoSourceId: 3

(The image sent to output 4 gets interrupted by black screen for about 1 second....)

Hi Henry,

I've sent you an email - I need more info to understand this one. We have never seen this behavior ourselves.

Cheers,
David

Here is a more complete command list we use for routing video on the C90.

On boot up we define the layouts and assign them to outputs. We do this for all five outputs. Here are the commands for setting up the layout for output 4:

xCommand Video Layout Add

xCommand Video Layout Assign Callid: 1 OutputId: 4 LayoutId: 4

We then assign input 3 to output 4 fullscreen: (analog)

xConfiguration Video Input DVI 3 Type: AnalogRGB

xCommand Video Layout Frame Update LayoutId: 4 FrameId: 1 PositionX: 0 PositionY: 0 Width: 10000 Height: 10000 Layer: 5 Border: Off VideoSourceType: LocalInput VideoSourceId: 3

Then, we send input 1 to output 3 full screen with this command:

xCommand Video Layout Frame Update LayoutId: 3 FrameId: 1 PositionX: 0 PositionY: 0 Width: 10000 Height: 10000 Layer: 5 Border: Off VideoSourceType: LocalInput VideoSourceId: 1

This last command cause the video to output 4 to be interrupted by black for about 1.5  seconds.

The one thing we need to add to this reply is that we add the frame with " xCommand Video Frame Add Layout Id: 4 PositionX: 0 PositionY: 0 Width: 10000 Height: 10000 Layer: 5 Border: Off VideoSourceType: LocalInput VideoSourceId: 1"
after assign input 3 to 4 fullscreen. From then on we are updating the frames ..
Thanks,
Bret
