If you're concerned with the 'line' settings, then you should use updateLine.
However the method depends on how to fetch the line UUID, either by perusing all DNs or recursively from a getPhone or the like.
The line CSS will have precedence over the device's, provided that they do collide.

My understanding is that only the BE 6000 supports the full set of UCM APIs, including AXL
