What do I really need to be able to run the Tomcat batch files (shutdown.bat, startup.bat, etc).
I've created the environment variable JAVA_HOME, but it now says it needs to be pointing to a java JDK
when I try to run one of those scripts:

"The JAVA_HOME environment variable is not defined correctly
This environment variable is needed to run this program
NB: JAVA_HOME should point to a JDK not a JRE"

Questions:

Do I really need the JDK? if so, What version of the JDK?
I'm currently pointing to: JRE_HOME=C:\Cisco\CVP\jre\bin, is this right?

We're running CVP 7.0(1)

thanks

There are two different scripts - be careful that you run the correct
script.

The one you SHOULD run is in Cisco/CVP/VxmlServer/admin/ directory.

Do NOT run this one Cisco/CVP/VxmlServer/admin/appscripts/ directory -
as it will give you an error message.

Sorry Voiceops for my previous response, I just re-read your post.

I have Java installed in C:/ProgramFiles/Java/jre6 directory. I went to
a DOS window and changed into the C:/Cisco/CVP/VxmlSerfer/Tomcat/bin
directory (not sure if this is necessary, but it's what I always do) and
executed these commands and Tomcat (VxmlServer) started up correctly in
another DOS window. Of course, this will only be good until reboot
unless you set the ENVI variable somewhere.

   set JRE_HOME=C:\Program Files\Java\jre6 (Enter)

   startup.bat

Hope that helps, Janine

But aren't those for the VXMServer?
I thought Tomcat had its own.  I want to be able to restart the Tomcat services after I add a new JNDI or something like it.
I was testing a couple of DB connections and I had to restart the whole server because I couldn't figure out how to restart just the Tomcat services.

thank you

Voiceops ,

Tomcat for VxmlServer runs as a service the Cisco VoiceXML Server
service. The easiest way to restart Tomcat is to just use the Windows
services panel and Restart the service.
