Subject: C20 RS-232 Standby Control
Replied by: Matt Keenan on 25-01-2012 11:10:46 PM
Hi all,

Is it possible to activate Standby Control on a C20 from the Touch Panel over the Camera Control Port to an RS-232 connected device?
We have older NEC LCD4020 Panels that don't support CEC, but have RS-232 capability. We would like to use the Cisco part CAB-C20-RS232-DBG ( C20 RS232 Y Cable) or a made up cable to Control both the Camera and to activate Standby.

Currently the display is blackened but kept on when Standby is activated, which is not ideal.

Is this achieveable? Can the codec be programmed to send standby instructions to the Panel if the status of  standby on the codec is set to  Active?  If no, what is a workable solution to achieve this outcome?

Any help greatly appreciated.

Cheers
Matt

Hi Matt - this is not currently supported on the codec.

A solution is to use a small processor (Crestron/AMX) that monitors the C20 over SSH/telnet/RS-232 (requires a Y cable for RS-232).  Then, the program would use xFeedback to watch for the Standby event.  In this case, the codec will notify the program when it goes into standby, or comes out of standby.  Then the processor uses RS-232 to instruct the LCD panels.
