You can record prompts for Cisco CallManager AutoAttendant (AA) on any computer using Microsoft Sound Recorder. Save the prompt as a .wav file in CCITT (  -law) 8kHz, 8-bit, mono format. You can use another audio application to record the welcome prompt if it supports this format.

Use a PC, Apple, Mac, or server-based tool to record the greeting.

Note: Do not use the telephone to record the greeting because the quality of the recording may be affected.

The initialization wizard has an option to copy the file in to the Cisco Unity Express system. Typically people use a desktop microphone connected to their PC. They tend to use the audio tool provided by the operating system on their PC. Often this is Microsoft Sound Recorder.

For more information, refer to the Configuring Prompts section of Configuring Cisco CallManager AutoAttendant.
