How to run Cisco IP Communicator using RDP connection

This recipe works for client computer running on Windows 7. ​

 

  1. Run Remote Desktop Connection utility on your workstation, then change these settings for the connection you want to use: Local Resources / Settings / check both "Play on this computer" and "Record from this computer".
  2. On the client machine apply this setting using regedit (you should restart the computer afterwards): HKLM\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Control\Terminal Server\WinStations\RDP-Tcp\ fDisableAudioCapture = 0
  3. Run both Audio Tuning Wizard and CIPC itself in Windows XP SP3 compatibility mode.
