This is a major release for us introducing new features and a completely redesigned user experience for smartphones. Over 50% of mobile traffic is now video and users are demanding video capabilities on their devices. In WebEx Meetings version 3.0 for Android, we are expanding the video offering on Android by introducing two-way multi-point video for Android smartphones OS version 4.0 and higher. Android smartphone users will now be able to engage in a meeting at a deeper level by sending and receiving video. The experience has been optimized for both portrait and landscape views.
A major shift in mobility is happening. Smartphones and tablets have often been used as consumption devices for reading news, surfing the web or watching videos. In 2013 and beyond, these devices have become productivity tools. Employees are demanding and using a wide range of enterprise applications on smartphones and tablets. Business users are checking and replying to e-mail, staying connected through instant messaging and attending and participating in meetings all from their mobile devices. According to a recent Cisco IBSG research report, knowledge workers use their smartphones for work 2.8 hours at work and remote work locations per day.
The user experience dynamically updates as the context of the meeting shifts from video introductions at the beginning to content sharing and collaboration throughout the meeting. Additionally, the audio and video controls will be persistent allowing you to easily enable video and mute or unmute your microphone.
In an effort to bring mobile devices to a new level of productivity, with WebEx for Android users will now be able to join and participate in WebEx Training Center meetings. All of today’s in-meeting features for mobile will be supported, including video, but attendees and panelists will also be able to participate in the Question & Answer capability that WebEx Training Center boasts. Attendees will be able to ask specific panelists questions and panelists will be able to choose which questions to answer – and whether to answer them publicly or privately. Now users have the ability to attend their trainings on the go — waiting at the airport, taking the train to work or under an umbrella at the beach.
