Cisco IP Phone Conference Station 7935 with phone load P00503010300 has trouble dialing a number from the corporate directory. When a number from the corporate directory has to be called and the dial button is pressed, the phone does not dial the number. Instead, a fast busy tone comes up.
The same number can be dialed without any problems from any other Cisco 7900 series IP 7900 phone. The format of the phone numbers used is xxx-xxx-xxxx.
This issue has been observed in the phone load P00503010300 on a Cisco 7935 IP phone. This happens due to the hyphen (-). If edit dial is used to remove the hyphen, and then dial, it works. This problem is documented by the Bug ID: CSCeb69901.
When the corporate directory number has a hyphen in it, for example 123-456-7890, the Cisco 7935 IP phone is unable to delete the hyphen and dial the number. Therefore, it gives a fast busy tone. The 7960/7940 is capable of removing the hyphen and dials the number successfully. This bug has been fixed in the phone load P0030300400.
To overcome this problem, use the Edit Dial softkey and edit the number by removing hyphens before dialing out.
