Cisco Jabber 8.6(5) Testing Instructions

Introduction

Cisco Jabber is an iOS application that enables you to handle your work calls using the Internet instead of your mobile service provider. Cisco Jabber is an enterprise client application that requires various backend servers, which Cisco has already pre-configured for testing. Before testing Cisco Jabber, you must first configure the application.


1)  Configure VPN in iPhone

  1. Connect to WiFi or 3G
  2. Download "Cisco AnyConnect" from itunes app store
  3. Tap Add VPN Configuration
  4. Enter these settings:
    • Description:               Cisco
    • Server:                        darnassus.cisco.com 
    • Network Roaming:    ON
    • Certificate:                 Disabled
  5. Tap Save
  6. Choose a Configuration: Tap Cisco
  7. Enter these settings:
    • Group:                QA_RAgroup
    • Username:          appleuser0 (zero) or appleuser1 (one)
    • Password:           cisco123
  8. Tap Connect


Note: Outgoing VPN connections to other organizations might be blocked within Apple's corporate Wi-Fi network. If you encounter any issues with the VPN connection over Apple Wi-Fi,  use the 3G network or any non-Apple public or private Wi-Fi networks (home, Starbucks, etc.). 


2)  Set Up Your Account

Most of the settings will be downloaded and automatically populated once the initial connection to the back-end services are established.

  1. Make sure you are connected through AnyConnect before using Cisco Jabber
  2. Open Cisco Jabber
  3. Tap Accept to accept the End User License Agreement
  4. Tap Enter Account Settings
  5. Tap Begin

Unified Communications Manager – Account Setup

  1. Tap Yes to configure a communications manager account
  2. Internet Calling:

Enter:

      o Device ID:      TCTAPP0 (zero) or TCTAPP1 (one)
     Note: Assign a different Device ID to each iPhone you configure for testing

o TFTP Server:  10.10.10.12

  1. Tap Save

Desk Phone Integration SetupDesk Phone Integration requires a Cisco Unified IP Phone.
Because you do not have physical access to a Cisco Unified IP Phone,
this optional feature is not enabled.

  1. Tap No to skip the desk phone integration setup


Unified Messaging – Account Setup

  1. Tap Continue
  2. These settings are automatically configured:
    • User Name: appleuser0 or appleuser1
    • Server: 10.10.10.13
    • Port: (blank)
  3. Enter the Password: cisco123
  4. Tap Save




Corporate Directory – Account Setup

  1. Tap Continue
  2. These settings are automatically configured:
    • Server: 10.10.10.11
    • Port: 3268
    • Use SSL: OFF
    • Search Base: dc=dmz,dc=ucbu
    • User Authentication: ON with these settings automatically configured:
      • User Name: appleuser0@dmz.ucbu  or appleuser1@dmz.ucbu
      • Password: cisco123
  3. Tap Save - see “Cisco Jabber x.x is ready”
  4. Tap Continue to begin using Cisco Mobile Verify Your Connection Status

The icons on your status bar indicate your connection status. If you see any icon other than a green phone, please contact Cisco as this may indicate a connection problem or a problem with a backend server in our lab. 

If there is a problem, tap the connection status symbol to check the details of your connection status. Contact Cisco with information about what services are failing.

Green phone

You are connected and all features are available.

Green checkmark

Voicemail and corporate directory search features are available, but Internet calling features are not. Tap the icon for details, and contact Cisco with this information.

Yellow triangle

Internet calling features are available, but there was an error establishing a connection with either voicemail or corporate directory. Tap the icon for details, and contact Cisco with this information.

Red phone

Internet calling features and other features are unavailable. Tap the icon for details, and contact Cisco with this information.

Red X

Internet calling features are not provisioned, and your voicemail and corporate directory features are disconnected. Tap the icon for details, and contact Cisco with this information.

Account Information

Your phone number in Cisco Mobile is your extension on our lab telephone network.

Make Calls

    1. Open Cisco Jabber
    Dial a number using the keypad, or select a contact from Favorites, Recents, Contacts, or Voicemail Note:

          Dial a phone number 7-digit calls or dial the other Cisco Mobile extension.

Answer Calls


You can receive incoming calls using Cisco Jabber if it is running in the foreground on your iPhone. Incoming Cisco Jabber calls use a unique Cisco ringtone, allowing you to distinguish them from other incoming calls.

Tap Answer to accept the incoming call. If you are already on a call when you receive a new incoming call, you can just ignore the new call or accept it. If you accept it, you can choose to hold or end your first call.

Hold and Resume Calls

While on a call, tap the button on the top right of the screen to place a call on hold.

Press it again to resume the call.


Voicemail

Within Cisco Jabber, the Voicemail tab indicates when you have a new office voice message.
To view your voicemail:

  1. Open Cisco Jabber
  2. Tap Voicemail. New messages are marked with a blue dot
  3. Tap the message to play it


Directory Search

With Cisco Jabber, you can search for your co-workers in your corporate directory.

  1. Open Cisco Jabber
  2. Tap Contacts
  3. Tap Directory
  4. Enter appleuser0 or appleuser1 in the search field at the top of the screen
  5. Tap Search.  In the search results, you can tap a name to view their details
  6. Tap Copy to iPhone Contacts to add the name to your Contacts
