Resolution
A Voice over IP (VoIP) network with a gatekeeper can be used in the following examples:
- To help scale a VoIP implementation where several gateways and devices are installed so that changes can be made at a central point (the central point being the gatekeeper).
- To help control call admission control to limit the number of calls allowed on the network.
- To implement the use of a proxy on the network to handle your VoIP calls separately from your data traffic.
