Deploying UC has a reputation for being complex. The good news is that future versions of the Cisco product portfolio will address this complexity, making it easier than ever to get a pilot up and running in a minimal amount of time. Even better news is that even if you're on older UC code, you can still deploy a sizable pilot of UC/Jabber in a single days work!
This doc is meant to be a "best practices" doc capturing the quickest, most tried and true method of getting the Jabber experience going as quickly as possible on existing versions of UC code.
