Resolution

In order to disable the Settings button, complete these steps:

  1. Choose Device > Phone, and find the specific phone to restrict.

  2. Find Product Specific Configuration > Settings access, and choose Disabled.

  3. Update and reset the phone.

With this configuration, whenever the Settings button is pressed on that phone, nothing happens.

For the Directories button, no specific setting exists in order to disable it. If only the corporate directory needs to be disabled, try this workaround:

  1. Choose System > Enterprise Parameters > URL Directories.

  2. Copy the URL, which is similar to this:

    http:// /CCMCIP/xmldirectory.asp

  3. Choose Device > Phone, and find the specific phone to restrict.

  4. Find Cisco IP Phone - External Data Locations (leave blank to use default) > Directory.

  5. Copy the URL into that field, but replace xmldirectory.asp with xmdirectory.asp.

  6. Update and reset the phone.
