Resolution

To locate the Cisco Location ObjectID, perform these steps:

  1. Start adsiedit.msc, found on a DC or in the Cisco Unity \commserver\techtools directory.

    If you get an error running it, you might have to register the DLL first. Register adsiedit.dll by running regsvr32.exe c:\adsi\adsiedit.dll after the c:\winnt\system32 command prompt.

  2. Once adsiedit is open, right click on the ADSI Edit (the top level) and select Connect To. This should open up a connection window.

  3. Press the Advanced button and select the Global Catalog for the protocol. Press OK to close that window, and select OK again on the connection screen. This should add a new entry at the bottom named "Domain NC[ ]".

  4. Right click on that new object, select New > Query. This opens a new query screen.

  5. Enter any name for Root of Search, and hit the Browse button. Typically, you would want to start from the root (thus the name Root Search).

    For the query string, use this syntax:

    CiscoEcsbuObjectType=9, ( 9 = location, 1= subscriber, 2=distribution list)

    Leave the query scope as subtree search, and press OK. This now places a query under the object created in step three. Double click the query to execute it.

  6. The results now show up on the right side of the ADSIEDIT screen. One of the fields returned is the Distinguished Name. This is your location of the object, as shown in this example:

    CN=default63212d38,OU=Hiding,OU=Location,OU=Unity,DC=RTP443,DC=Cisco,DC=Com

    Read this from right to left to find it with Active Directory Users and Computers.

For more information on ADSIEdit, refer to Importing and Creating Subscribers In Cisco Unity section of Cisco Unity Version 3.x and Above Connected to Exchange 2000 and Active Directory.
