Core Issue
On the Cisco Unity 4.x server, when an attempt is made to add a Cisco Unity Voice Mailbox for an Internet Subscriber and specify an SMTP e-mail address, the "An unrecognized error 0x80004005 has occurred: E_Fail.The new subscriber was not successfully added." error message appears
Unable to add a Cisco Unity Voice Mailbox for an Internet Subscriber and specify a Simple Mail Transfer Protocol (SMTP) e-mail address. This error message appears:
An unrecognized error 0x80004005 has occurred: E_Fail.The new subscriber was not successfully added.
Resolution
In order to resolve this issue, complete these steps:
- Restart the AvDSAD and AvGlobalcatalog services.
- Attempt to add the subscriber again. If this does not work, make sure the AvDSAD and AvDSGlobalCatalog services run under the UnityDirSvc account. If they do not, make UnityDirSvc the Owner of the services.
- Make sure that the UnityDirSvc account has full Microsoft Exchange administrative rights.
- If subscribers still can not be added, complete these steps:
- On the Cisco Unity Server, choose Start > Programs > Microsoft Exchange > Active Directory Users and Computers.
- Right-click Users in the left pane. Choose View > Advanced Features.
- In the right pane, right-click the Particular Mailbox. Choose Properties, choose the Security tab, and click Advanced.
- Make sure the Allow Inheritable Permissions check box is checked. If it is unchecked, check it, and click Apply.
- Restart the AvDSAD and AvGlobalcatalog services again.
