Upgrade UCCX 8.5 to 11.5

Hi folks,

Follow below steps for standalone upgrade of UCCX system. Soon I will be updating document with HA upgrade as well. Below is the summary steps you can follow to upgrade.

UCCX upgrade steps

v8.5 à 8.5SU4 à 10.6 à 10.6SU4 à 11.5 SU1 à 11.5 SU1 ES1

  • 8.5 base version installed.
    • Assuming UCCX 8.5 is installed already. You need to upgrade to latest SU to upgrade to next release. Refer
  • 8.5 SU4 upgrade. Latest SU pack install. No HW changes.
    • Install latest UCCX 8.5 SU4 pack. You can download from URL below
    • Installation time would vary based on server specs.
    • Login to UCCX CLI.
      • Once system services are started, execute check the system version which is running. Execute command #show version active. UCCX 8.5 SU4 will be installed in inactive disk / second disk.
      • To activate UCCX 8.5 SU4, check the inactive version installed on system by executing command #show version inactive. It will show UCCX 8.5 SU4 version. To activate SU4, execute command #utils system switch-version. The process will take time to switch. System will boot automatically.
      • Refer UCCX 10.6 Install/Upgrade guide. Refer Page16 of the guide. As mentioned in summary, I will upgrade to v10.6. There will be service interruption during the upgrade.
  • Install COP file
  • Install 10.6 version
    • Download the UCCX 10.6 bootable ISO or get ISO from Account Manager. File name: Bootable_UCSInstall_UCCX_10_6_1_UCOS_10.6.1.10000-39.sgn.iso
    • Map the UCCX 10.6 bootable ISO.
    • You can upgrade via CLI or by GUI. I will go by GUI. Go to Cisco OS Administration à Software Upgrades à Install/Upgrade à Source: DVD/CD. Click next to start the upgrade.
    • Do not get confused, once upgrade is stopped in UCCX OS Admin, take VM instance ESXi login. Installation will be in progress. Once you see CLI Login screen in ESXi, login to server and do switch version to 10.6
    • Upload license of UCCX 10.6 and activate the services and check the data is reflected.
  • Upgrade 10.6 SU3
  • Upgrade 11.5 bootable ISO

Happy UCCX…!

Please feel free to share inputs else if correction please suggest.

Thank you for the useful information but the Bootable_UCSInstall_UCCX_10_6_1_UCOS_10.6.1.10000-39.sgn.iso is supposed to be UCSInstall_UCCX_10_6_1_UCOS_10.6.1.10000-39.sgn to make it work
