Core Issue

In a Cisco Unity 4.x that is installed with the Microsoft Exchange 2000 server and the Active Directory, when an attempt is made to import subscribers from Exchange, most of the subscribers import successfully, but a few subscribers do not import, and the An unrecognized error 0x80070005 has occurred: E_ACCESSDENIED, The new subscriber was not successfully added error message appears.

This problem is caused by an account that imports but does not have the right permissions or enough permissions.

Resolution

In order to resolve this issue, complete these steps:

  1. Run the Permissions Wizard on the Organizational Unit (OU) from which the subscribers are imported. The Permissions Wizard is in the Tools Depot. There is a Tools Depot icon on the desktop of the Cisco Unity server. Download the latest one from Cisco Unity Tools.

  2. Make sure the account in the Active Directory has inherited permissions from the OU.

    1. Choose Active Directory Users and Computers.

    2. Choose View > Advanced Features in order to see the Security window in the account properties.

    3. Go to the OU and double-click on the user account in order to access the Properties page.

    4. Choose Security.

    5. Check the Allow inheritable permissions from parent to propagate to this object checkbox.

Refer to Importing and Creating Subscribers In Cisco Unity for more information about this and other issues related to the importation and creation of subscribers in the Cisco Unity.

These steps can sometimes cause a failsafe to occur when the Cisco Unity is called in order to check voicemail, and the voicemail is delivered to the Microsoft Outlook Inbox.

This error message is also logged in the Inbox:

Event ID: 10046
Description: Unity was unable to determine the mailbox status for the subscriber. Unity needs to know if the mailbox has the ability to send and recive mails.

In order to resolve this issue, run D:/commserver/configuration setup/setup.exe /sync, and check the voicemail through the phone.
