Core Issue
When the Microsoft Windows 2000 operating system (OS) is installed with the Cisco Unity Platform Configuration Disc EDCS-501261DVD Revision 17 on the Hewlett-Packard 7825-H2 server, Cisco Unity fails to join the Microsoft Active Directory (AD) 2003 domain and displays the access denied error message.
There are no issues when another Windows 2000 server on the same subnet joins the domain with the same credentials. The Cisco Unity server can ping the domain controller (DC), and the DC can ping the Cisco Unity server.
Resolution
This issue is documented in Cisco bug ID CSCsf00207. In order to resolve this issue, run this command on the troubled server and reboot the server:
secedit /configure /cfg "%windir%\security\templates\setup security.inf" /db secsetup.sdb /verbose
This command resets the security templates on the affected server.
