Core Issue

The Cisco CallManager setup application cannot see any hard drives. However, the HP Drive Array utility sees the hard drives just fine. Further inspection of the server hardware shows the hard disks used are 10,000 Route Processor Module (RPM) drives, which do not match the hardware configuration requirements for the HP-DL380G4 server.

Resolution

The Cisco CallManager 5.0(x) installation process checks and tests hardware component types and the presence of each server component. When Original Equipment Manufacturer (OEM) servers are obtained from Hewlett-Packard (HP), ensure that the hard drives and the Battery Backed cache Writeback Enabler (BBWC) is specified per the documentation and installed accordingly.

Refer to Cisco 7800 Series Media Convergence Servers for further information on OEM solutions and the components required.

This issue can be caused by disk channel failures during IP Telephony application installations, due to missing or mismatched hardware components. Further review of the hardware components present in the OEM server must be verified.
