With Cisco CallManager, Call Forward All (CFA) does not work if the line is in the hunt group


Core Issue

For a line configured to CFA and placed within a hunt group, when the pilot number for that hunt group is called and that line is invoked, it does not forward the call to the forwarded number. It simply rings the line.

This problem occurs if the line that is doing the CFA is placed in a hunt group.

This is Working As Designed (WAD) and is documented in Cisco bug ID CSCec54565.

The forwarding is controlled by the hunt group settings, and the per Distinguished Name (DN) settings are ignored. The purpose of the hunt group is to give you independent control of the forwarding path.

You cannot forward the hunt group to a phone number. You have to forward all the calls manually to a valid number.


To resolve this problem, call the line directly without going through the pilot number.

If you want the path to be controlled by the per-DN forwarding commands, do not use hunt groups. Instead, chain CFbusy/no-answer from one DN to the next.

If you want to make a rotary hunt group, configure Call Forward No Answer (CFNA) and Call Forward Busy (CFB) in the lines of the hunt group.
