Resolution

To resolve this issue, perform these steps:

  1. Run dbwalker on the Cisco Unity server. Several root causes for this error stem from problems with objects in the database that are missing or incorrect. The dbWalker finds many of these problems and either corrects them automatically or displays a message stating the problem.
  2. There could be a problem with the subscriber template. Try to import by creating a new template from scratch.
  3. If the Cisco Unity service account does not have permission to change attributes of the user account object in Active Directory (AD), the process fails. With Cisco Unity 4.0, launch the Directory Access Diagnostic tool (DAD) from the Cisco Unity Tools Depot and check the user with the tool. The tool indicates if there are any permission issues.
  4. If Cisco Unity cannot access a domain controller, it cannot make these changes to the AD object. Make sure that the domain controller Cisco Unity is using is correctly identified in the registry, as shown in this example:

    HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\ActiveVoice\DirectoryConnectors\DirSynchAD\1.00\Domains\{your

    domain}\DefaultDomainController

  5. If Cisco Unity cannot access the global catalog domain controller, it cannot make these changes either. Make sure that the global controller Cisco Unity is using is correctly identified in the registry, as shown in this example:

HKLM \ SOFTWARE \ Active Voice

    \ Directory Connectors \ DirSynchGlobalCatalog \ 1.00 \ Directory

For scenarios where this error message might occur and for more information on creating Cisco Unity subscribers, refer to Importing and Creating Subscribers In Cisco Unity.

This document applies to Unity 4.x.
