CCX Email Queue and Pop3

Customer wants to setup a new Email Queue within their existing CCX environment (8.5).

The docs say that CCX will use imap to talk to the Email server.

Is this hard and fast or can we change to use POP3 instead?

Yes, it's IMAP only.
