Client Configuration Tool

What is the real purpose of this software client applicaiton?

Do you run it from each desktop before installing CAD or Supervisor?

If you are upgrading from one verison to the next, do you need to run it again?

It would appear that the only purpose to running it, is to configure it for your environment, so that your users do not have to enter any settings to make it work, when they install it.  E.g., Your users are installing CAD on their own, and they get asked for the primary and secondary node IP Addresses.  They probably wont know that.

If you are wondering how an Agent can install CAD on their own, then check out this URL in your environment:

https://:8443/appuser/Download?request_type=download.icd

I wont say that you do or don't have to run it for every upgrade.  Refer to the upgrade or release notes for your version to find that information.  It may change from one version to the next.  Generally speaking you do have to run it though.

Do you have a link for supervisors?

I note if you click on the link you sent wiht the correct IP, you have to log in?

Yes, you have to login.  You would simply give this URL to your Agents:

https:///appuser/

And from there they can navigate the page.  I just gave a direct link for succinctness.

The Supervisor one happens to have been removed.  It use to be:

https:///appsupervisor/

However, now you just use the standard admin one:

https:///appadmin/

And if the user has Admin or Admin+Supervisor rights, it goes to AppAdmin, but if they only have Supervisor rights it goes to App Supervisor.  So, it is two different pages, it's just hidden behind a single URL for some reason.  Not intiutive if you ask me.

ONe more -  where can I go on the existing software to change the server address?   We did a migration from 7 to 9 and used a new server IP address.  I want to go to the old CAD desktop and change the server IP so that when it does its check for upgrade, it will be talking to the right server?

You would typically go to:

%programfiles%\cisco\desktop\bin\postinstall.exe

But you may want to script a registry update and push it out as a part of your workstation tasks.  I.e., Login scripts, or workstation maintenance scripts.
