CUIC and multicast use need clarification

Hi Team,

The "Cisco Unified Intelligence Center Solution Reference Network Design" (SRND), Release 11.0(1) mention the fact that CUIC nodes communicate with each other directly by using IP multicast, which happens independently of database replication.

We have 8 CUIC nodes slit on 2 datacenters, therefore I am wondering what is the use of the communication multicast between nodes and what is the impact if the multicast is not working ?

Thank you for the information, however it doesn't explain what the multicast is used for, and what would be the impact if the multicast is not working.
