DirAccessSynSvr.cfg SQL login password

The vendor that installed IPCC for us left a security mess.

I need to change the SQL login password in the DirAccessSynSvr.cfg file for the "Cisco Desktop Sync Server" service.

Docs I've found bluntly say, "...don't manually edit this file..." (OK, so what do I edit it with?) and, "...the password is encrypted..."

How do I generate the password hash I need to put into this file?

I found a tool called "pwcrypt.exe" in the "Program Files\Cisco\Desktop_Config\Util" directory...but no luck with that.

Until I know what to use to generate this hash, we seam to be stuck with a blank password. Ouch. At least it's not using the 'sa' login anymore.

Can anybody give me a clue?

Thank you very much for your time.

Here is some info on where the .log and the .dbg log files are located.

Sync Server

The Synchronize Server connects to the ICM SQLServer Database, grabs Agent, Team, Supervisor and

Skill information, and then stores that information in LDAP. It automatically re-syncs every 10

minutes, or it can be manually run from Administrator.

Application Name: DirAccessSynSvr.exe

Service Name: Cisco Desktop Sync Server

Log File Directory: \Desktop\Directory Services\log

Log File Name: DirAccessSynSvr[.dbg / .log]

Config File Directory: \Desktop\Directory Services\config

Config File Name: DirAccessSynSvr.cfg

How to increase debug level for application: Range 4000-5000, restart service
