Does the 8851 work with UCCE CAD 10.0 and or Phone Agent

No laughing.  We are in the process of upgrading to 12.5.

I have UCCE 10.x with CAD.  Just purchased 8851 phones and I cannot get these phones to login to CAD 10.0.  I also use IP phone agent and that doesn't work either.  I have search for days and have not found anything that says the 8851 will not work or how to configure to make it work.

My 7965 and 7945 work fine.

I think I know the answer, but have to make sure.

Does anybody out there know?

Your help would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks in advance,

Melinda

I know this says 99XX and not 88XX, but we've run into cases where 99XX and 88XX require some of the same unique configuration steps. Do you want to give it a shot?

I have to imagine that CAD has not mention of 88xx phones as I don't think they were around when CAD was being released. However, considering UCM 10.x does support the 88xx phones it would seem like it "should" work. Do you get any specific errors? What does the JTAPI logs show?

While I think this is a cool exercise even if you got it to work I don't think this effort is going to be worth your time long term. If you're moving to 12.x soon focus on that transition. 2 cents.

Hi David,

Thanks for answering!  Yes I've been using CAD, I want to say since 2007.  I was just wishing Cisco would have updated to say the 8851 would or would not work with CAD.  Also, if there was a field that needed changed on the phone config.  Thinking maybe something to do with the 8851 configured as SIP.

So when I attempt to login thru the phone I get "Phone is not configured correctly in CUCM".  Which I have it configured the same as the 7965 phones.

JTAPI shows this:

10:05:52:887 pg1a-jgw1 Trace: MsgAddCallObserver: Addr: 27241 Remote Addr: 0 InvID: 1147644501 CallDeliveryMode ID: 0 AgentDevicePQ: 0.

I would like to wait for the upgrade, but sometimes users are impatient.

Any idea?

Hi Bill,

Saw that as well in my searching.

When logging into the phone, I get "Phone is not configured correctly in the CUCM".  It is configured just like the 7965 phones.

This is what JTAPI says:

10:05:52:887 pg1a-jgw1 Trace: MsgAddCallObserver: Addr: 27241 Remote Addr: 0 InvID: 1147644501 CallDeliveryMode ID: 0 AgentDevicePQ: 0.

10:05:52:888 pg1a-jgw1 Trace: MsgAddCallObserverResponse: Addr: 27241 Succeeded: 0 InvID: 1147644501 Cause: 128.
10:05:52:889 pg1a-jgw1 Trace: ThreadAddressManager::processNextQueuedMsg: msgHashtable.size = 0.
10:05:52:889 pg1a-jgw1 Trace: ThreadAddressManager::Waiting for next retry.
10:05:52:892 pg1a-jgw1 Trace: MsgAddCallObserver: Addr: 27241 Remote Addr: 0 InvID: 1147644502 CallDeliveryMode ID: 0 AgentDevicePQ: 0.
10:05:52:892 pg1a-jgw1 Trace: Adding Call Observer to: 27241.

Good deal, glad it helped and thank you for letting people know that is the fix.

Please just mark that answer as helpful so that if others run into that situation in the future, that may help them find it easier.

Have a good weekend!
