Hello All,

We are doing a UCCE migration from 9.0 to 11.5 for one of the customer & they are using Generic PG in there environment.

As all of you know, Generic PG in 11.5 is Deprecated Features so can we still go with Generic PG in 11.5 or if we are going to split them then what will be the best approach to do so?

Expecting your experience and recommendations on upgrading from Generic PG. Let me know if you need any addition info to comment on this.

Your prompt response will be appreciated.

Thanks.

Deprecated does not mean removed. You will still receive support on Generic PG.

Note that in v11, there was a change to require Large PG OVA for the Generic PG for UCCE.

The PCCE upgrade procedure contains a section on migrating from Generic PG ot the 3 PG model when migrating from v11 to v11.5. It relies on the drag and drop feature in the PG explorer to move one of the PIMs to a different logical controller.

Hi schaursi & David,

We are planing to upgrade our UCCE environment from version 9 to 11. Have you develop a step by step document during your upgrade process that you can share? I tried SRND multiptime but got lost.

Your help is very much appreciated,

Thanks,

MK

When moving to v11, you'll be upgrading from Windows Server 2008 r2 to Windows Server 2012 r2. Have you decided whether this will be a tech refresh, or a common ground upgrade?

Tech refresh will be simpler and more straight forward. Basically, you can stand up a v11 UCCE system, and migrate in the data by doing back to back EDMT on the database. (EDMT v9 -> v10, and then v10->v11).

If you're doing a common ground upgrade, then you need to look at solution compatibility.

For now, the compatibility matrix can be found here. This is being deprecated and hosted elsewhere.

http://docwiki.cisco.com/wiki/Compatibility_Matrix_for_Unified_CCE

If you look at the v11 tab, you can see it supports back to v10. If you look at v10.5, you will see it  supports back to v9.

So my recommendation is to upgrade first to v10.5 following the v10.5 install and upgrade guide.

Then, follow the upgrade plan defined to get to v11 in the following install upgrade guide:

http://www.cisco.com/c/en/us/td/docs/voice_ip_comm/cust_contact/contact_center/icm_enterprise/icm_enterprise_11_0_1/Installation/Guide/UCCE_BK_S9AC0C85_00_ucce-install-upgrade-guide.html

Thanks David, it's very much appreciated :-)

David,

In order to upgrade from version 9 to 11, do we need to go first to 10 and then 11? Can't we go directly from 9 to 11?

Thanks,

MK

Directly to 11.x from 9.x is not supported. Below are the supported upgrade paths for 11.0

  • Release 10.0(x) to Release 11.0(x)

  • Release 10.5(x) to Release 11.0(x)

have a look at below upgrade guide

http://www.cisco.com/c/en/us/td/docs/voice_ip_comm/cust_contact/contact_center/icm_enterprise/icm_enterprise_11_0_1/Installation/Guide/UCCE_BK_S9AC0C85_00_ucce-install-upgrade-guide.html

Thank you!

Hey David, long time, hope you are doing good!

Just to clarify:

11.5 upgrade guide states a common ground upgrade from 10.5 is supported.

Now, considering that 10.5 still supported generic PG, how do you really perform a common ground upgrade to 11.5 directly then if you have a Generic PG on 10.5?

Thanks!
