Do I need to write a script for a HTTP Trigger setup in CRS?

Well that is the porpuse of triggers...to trigger a script of your own or a system script.

Triggers launch scripts. So yes, if you want a script to launch, you'll have to write it. Otherwise your trigger does nothing...
