Media Routing PG, with which server to be installed?

Hi All;

At which server is the best practice to install the Media Routing PG? Is it to be with the CUCM PG or with the CVP PG or with the Outbound Dialer?

Thanks

Regards

Bilal

What exactly do you have? Your post seems to imply you have a pair of boxes for the CUCM PG, a pair of boxes for the CVP PG, and a Dialer box.

Cisco now tend to recommend the "Agent PG" should run the Dialer s/w too. This would be the logical place for the MR PG s/w. In many deployments (say less than 1000 agents), you can overload the Agent PG with all the components - Generic PG (with a PIM for CUCM, and multiple PIMs for the CVPs), the MR PG and the Dialer.

Geoff

* Yes.

* Sorry what do u mean by s/w? Do u mean that I have to install the Agent PG + MR PG and the Dialer on the same machine?

You should read the SRND again.

Cisco use this term "Agent PG" to mean the box (a pair of boxes of course for duplex) that runs the CUCM PG, CTI server, CTIOS and (optionally) CAD. They recommend that this runs the Dialer - in fact, they REALLY want the Dialer here. The old days of a separate Dialer box are over.

If the PG for CUCM is a Generic PG, you can also add the PIMs for CVP. You can also install another PG (it's just software) - the MR PG.

In your case, I'd install the MR PG on the same machine as the CUCM PG.

Dear Geoff;

Thanks alot of the help and answer and kindly explaination.

Attempting to connect to MR application at IP address 10.180.22.135 port ...

I am facing a problem with the Media Routing PG, I am getting "Attempting to connect to MR application at IP address 10.180.22.135 port ..." as shown in the below image. Actually the IP address 10.180.22.135 is the IP address of the same machine that I installed the MR PG on it (which has the CUCM), this IP address was given during the installation as shown also in the below image. So, I am afraid that the MR application is an application that I do not have it so it is not able to connect to it? So what this application?

Now if I installed the dialer, it should talk with the MR PG, correct? At which port? In other words, which process of the MR PG processes will be used for the communication with the Auto Dialer, so I can be sure they are communicated?

Fully thanks for ur kindly help.

Regards

Bilal

It would be helpful if you were clearer in your description. See if you can help me.

1. vivadr-cmpg = 10.180.22.135

2. the MR PG wants to talk to the Dialer at vivadr-cmpg on 38001

3. The Dialer is installed on vivadr-cmpg and is listening on port 38001

If the above is not so, then it's realistic that the PIM won't connect.

So, I am afraid that the MR application is an application that I do not have it so it is not able to connect to it? So what this application?

The Dialer.

Geoff

Dear Geoff;

The answer for all the questions is Yes. But still it is not connecting and when I type netstat -a I do not see the port 38001 !! Also, as u see in the below images that the dialer is trying to connect to port 40032 (on the same machine) but it is failing, what this service that use 40032 (which also I do not see it in the netstat -a).

Now, I need to explain something: as u know I am took the configuration from production environment and actually the dialer was on separated machine than the CUCM PG machine, but now in my new environment I am putting the dialer on the same CUCM PG as we discussed this before.

I am expecting the problem is related to the Logical controller ID, Physical controller ID and to the Peripheral ID, but I appreciate if u can help me. Actually, in the MR PG configuration, the logical controller is 5003 and the physical controller is 5003, but I am installing the MR and Dialer on the same CUCM PG machine, so could be this the mistake? The MR PG configuration is shown in the below image.

Otherwise to what could be the problem related?

Bilal

The dialer is trying to connect to the campaign manager with runs on Logger A. You will need to rerun setup on your dialer and enter the appropriate address. I would strongly suggest reading up on the outbound and installation guides and getting a strong understanding of the architecture, there are a lot of pieces that have to come together to make the dialer function.
