SocialMiner 11.0 Server Requirements

Looking for updated server TRC BOM to support SocialMiner 11.0. On the docwiki it shows UCS BE7K M3 only which is EOS. Is there a current C-series BOM (non-EOS) that can be used for SocialMiner 11.0 since the M3 TRC's are no longer available?

I would imagine the M4 servers are supported and the docwiki simply has not been updated. My suggestion is to open PDI ticket if you are a parter to confirm, otherwise TAC case to have them let you know.

Interestingly enough, the M4 servers are explicitily not supported according to the Sociaminer virtualization dockwiki.

http://docwiki.cisco.com/wiki/Virtualization_for_Cisco_SocialMiner#Notes_on_UCS_Tested_Reference_Configuration_and_Specs-based_Support

"Where hardware support is specified as Limited, the following exception exists, as applicable to the TRC or Specs-based policy referenced: The UCS M4 generation of C series servers is not supported for use with any version of the SocialMiner application. All other UCS servers in the given TRC are supported."

Once you click on the M or L TRCs under the category of UCS Tested Reference Configurations in the Supported Hardware (Latest) section of the above mentioned dockwiki, it will take you to below link that lists BE7000M (M4) and BE7000H (M4) as the UCS Tested Reference Configuration:

Refer to below post as well:

In nutshell, as far as you are using BE7K M4 as Specs Based, it is ok to install SM on it.

Deepak

My apprehension and reason I was looking for clarification was due to the fact that under the M or L TRCs under the category of UCS Tested Reference Configurations it mentions UCS M3 only. I will take a look at the M4 Spec based (C240 M4S2 TRC#1).

No issue, feel free to go through the M4 specs based BOM to ensure that it meets your requirement. If you still have any confusion, let me know.

Regards

Deepak

Hi Deepak.

I'm still confused; is there ANY version of SocialMiner which can run as the sole VM (no co-habitation at all) on a UCS-C220-M4S box?

Thanks
