UCCE 11.6 SQL Configuration Manager Certificate Assignment

I have a question about the SQL Configuration Manager configuration: is it supported/allowed to assign a certificate to the Protocols for MSSQLSERVER configuration on the AW/HDS? 

My customer wants to connect to the AW DB from an external application, but it is required to be secure.

I'm running UCCE 11.6.
