2. Can it possible that the Recorded files can be automatically enabled with the extended life time ? If yes,let me know the procedure.

3. What is the duration of the recorded files which are enable with the extended life time ?

4. Is it possible to keep the recorded files for up to 3 months?

5. Is it the recorded files are stored in the both the UCCX servers in a HA mode? Can the recorded file can be played when one of the UCCX server is down?

6. Is it Automatic archive or export option is available for the recorded files stored in a UCCX server? Let us know the procedure to export the recorded files.

7. Is it the Automatic/Continuous recording is not recommended by the Cisco ? If yes, why it is not recommended?

Thanks & Regards,

Krishna

Hi Krishna,

Please find the answers in line.

1. What is the storage allocated in the UCCX server for storing the recordings? Whether this storage space can be increased?

Anand: 2.6 GB allocated in each node of UCCX. It can not be increased.

2.  Can it possible that the Recorded files can be automatically enabled  with the extended life time ? If yes,let me know the procedure.

Anand: Unless recordings are tagged for an extended lifetime, they are automatically deleted

after seven days.

If a recording is tagged for the 30-day extended lifetime, it will not be deleted until that

30-day period expires. If you delete it manually before the 30-day period expires, it is

deleted in the next folder cleanup. Cleanups run daily at midnight.

3. What is the duration of the recorded files which are enable with the extended life time ?

Anand: 30-day period

4. Is it possible to keep the recorded files for up to 3 months?

Anand: No

5.  Is it the recorded files are stored in the both the UCCX servers in a  HA mode? Can the recorded file can be played when one of the UCCX server  is down?

Anand: In a High Availability system, recordings can be stored on either of the two recording servers, and all are displayed in Supervisor Record Viewer. If one of the servers becomes inactive and cannot be accessed, the recordings stored on that server cannot be played, even though they continue to be displayed in Supervisor Record Viewer. If you attempt to play a recording stored on an inactive server, you will see the error message, “The recording server is inactive.” You will be able to play the recording when the server becomes active again.

6. Is it Automatic archive or export option is  available for the recorded files stored in a UCCX server? Let us know  the procedure to export the recorded files.

Anand:  The recordings are archived as raw voice data packets; they can only be played back

using the Supervisor Record Viewer. However, if you want to save selected recordings

as WAV files, you can use the “Play and Save” button and save the recording to a

folder in WAV format.

There is tool available called raw to wav converter whihc serves this purpose.

7. Is it the Automatic/Continuous recording is not recommended by the Cisco ? If yes, why it is not recommended?

Anand: With UCCX 8.x the maximum limit for recording is 2.6 Gig (per Node of UCCX), As a result it is not recommended to record each and every call.

By default the recordings are stored in the folder "/common/cisco/uccx/rshell/recording" which can be accessed only by root credentials.

And for purging the oldest recording files follow the below procedure.

You can log into the UCCX box via SSH and try the command:

admin:show uccx recordings space

It will show the number of files and total size of the recordings.

To purge the recordings,use this:

admin:utils uccx recordings purge X

where X is the space to be freed up in MB.

Hope it helps.
