hi to all..
i have a simple question and i didn't find it explicitly explained in cisco docs..
our customer has CCX41 and they bought upgrade to CCX8.5 ( for 8 ENH agents upgrading from 41 to 8 PRE agents on CCX 85 ) ..
so, we received two PAKs:
CCX-41-85EP-SUPAK
CCX-41-85-E-P-UPAK
my quesion is simple..
since we're not going to migrate configuration, we're going to do a fresh install of CCX85 and then configure it accordingly..
what's the correct way for activate licenses on CCX85..
i have a information that we need to upload our licenses from CCX41 and then use licenses we got from above mentioned PAKs in order to activate it on CCX85..
is this correct, or we're totally out of the path..
any thoughts?..
anyway it would be nice to have it documented somewhere load&clear..
thanx..
regards..

Hi Sinisa
In this case your upgrade license won't work.
As they are only an upgrade from what you current own.
Fairly certain the automated tool will not allow you to select new license when you enter the PAK code.
What you do is the following:
- Provide CIN with your 4.x license along with your PAK codes.
- Tell them you are no longer upgrading the system instead building a clean UCCX 8.5 system so you need a new install license with what your entitled too.
Worst case senario is they will send you the wrong license, bounce you to TAC and back again with TAC advising them.
But when you look at your license you should be expecting to see the follow two lines if its a new install.
INCREMENT CRS_XXXICDSRVR cisco 8.5
INCREMENT CRS_XXX_SEAT cisco 8.5
Now if you see the following then it won't work on a new install
UPGRADE CRS_EXP_XXX_SAS_SASU cisco 7.0 8.0
In your case it will probably be 4.0 8.0

hi hoai..
that's exactly what happend....
licensing team provided us with the new licenses based on PAK and old licenses we had..
the old licenses wouldn't work unless "upgrade from previous version......" was choosen in initial setup..
thanx..

Hi,
We're doing nearly the same thing but moving to new hardware too. How do we acquire the CCX8.5 licenses? I was hoping to build CCX8.5 as new then send Cisco Licensing our current CCX4 licenses and ask then to send new ones back under our UCSS. Is that do-able?

hi richb1971..
as said in previous post..there is nothing more then that..
"

"
so, that's basically everything you need to do..
1. install CCX 8.5
2. choose fresh install in initial setup
3. contact licensing@cisco.com and provide them with new PAK you got ( prooving you've got correct upgrade )
4. provide them with old license files ( provving that you're entitled to upgrade you;ve bought )
5. you'll get CCX 8.5 license file and after that it's like you never had CCX 4.x
regards..
