This  is the document for how to replace the Primary and secondary CMs with the new hardware devices. Steps will remains the same in case you want to replace either of them.

1. Delete the current secondary standby CM from the current Primary CM.

To do this, you have to go to the GUI of Primary CM and go to device list. Select the Secondary CM and click on "Delete" button.

This will remove the Secondary CM from the database.

Go to the CLI of the Current Secondary CM and run the command "cms deregister force"

2. Turn off the Current Secondary CM and remove it from the network Unplug all the cables.

3. Install the New WAE device with the basic IP address configuration.

4. Confgure the new WAAS device as a new Secondary CM.

To do this, you have to go to the CLI of the new Secondary CM and run the command "device mode central manager".

After this, you have to run another command " central-manager role standby", this will confirm that the new Seconary CM will act as a standby device.

Now we have to inform this device about the current Primary CM (which is still an old hardware). For that, you have to give the command "central-manager address <cm-primary-address>"

Finaly run the command "cms enable" on the new secondary CM.

5. Once done, wait for the devices to get sync, before you proceed further, you have to check whether the new standby CM is showing online in the primary CM's database, under the device list.

6. Once you confirm the same, make sure to check whether the devices got sync fine or not. To confirm the same, run the command : "show cms info" and check the time of the last update.

It should be between 1-5 minutes old, not more than that.

7. Once you confirm that both the devices got sync properly and you have the last update time between 1-5 minutes, the we are good to perform the switchover.

8. To perform the switchover and make the primary device as seocndary and secondary device as primary, you have to run the command:

On Current Primary CM (which is the old device):

WAE1# configure

WAE1(config)# central-manager role standby

WAE(config)# cms enable

On Secondary device (which is now a new hardware):

WAE2# configure

WAE2(config)# central-manager role primary

WAE(config)# cms enable

9. This will make the old primary device as a standby device and new WAAS device as a Primary device.

10. Now to replace the remaining old hardware which is now the standby device, perform the steps 1-6 with this device as well.
