Introduction


The Nexus 2348UPQ offers large 32-MB buffers that sustain workload spikes and allows easy migration from 1 Gigabit Ethernet to 10 or native 40 Gigabit Ethernet. It effectively reuses structured cabling with bidirectional optics and provides flexible port personalities for either host or server connectivity.

 

Issue


User trying  to configure FC and FCoE port in nexus 2348UPQ working in fex mode, according to the data shet the nexus 2k support this configuring. In Ethernet mode this works fine, but when configuring in FC and FCoE does it does not work.

 

Description


Following output is seen using “sh fex” on parent switch.

Getting following error when trying to change port to FC.

Resolution


FC support for the 2348UPQ is not available yet. It is in plan and should be available by the end of this year.

The 2348UPQ can be used for FCoE, but not as a native FC port.   The capability to use the ports as native FC will be available later this year.

To be able to bind the VFC to the FEX port, if using EVPC or Adapter FEX, you need to configure FCoE under the FEX, IE...

Any status on when native FC support is coming to the 2348UPQ?

(1)It will be supported if the upstream switch is a Nexus 5600.

(2)The version of firmware that supports this is 7.3(0)N1(1) or above, which is not yet available.

No update on when this will be available.

Hello, according to the documentation this feature is available. "Cisco Nexus 2348UPQ FEX ASIC supports native FC ports.
